Herbage Farm/Gould family

I have been using the excellent transcription of the Harpur Crewe North Staffs Estate catalogue to supplement a note (16 pages) I have prepared on the Goulds of Herbage who farmed there for six generations from before 1540: the farm was lot 162 of 184 acres in 1951. William Gould (1655-1725) left Herbage for The Low, near Longnor, c. 1680 and then in 1684 moved to Pilsbury across the Dove. My wife and I have traced 22 farms or pieces of land (including Herbage) in Derbyshire and Staffordshire owned by one branch of my family over 13 generations to 1950. In Staffs the other lands were The Brund, Lowend, High Sheen, Mort Hey, Gosselcroft, The Low,and Ludwell (which lies in both counties).

I would be very happy to supply a copy of the Herbage note by email to anyone who might be interested, or the complete set on disc.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

With all best wishes,

Michael H.
