Hi, I don't know how old your message is, so you may already have had lots of information head your way. I am just in the process of looking at the connections between my family (Coates) and the Wardles.

My 4 greats grandfather, Elisha Coates married Mary Wardle in 1852. Oddly, they went all the way to Prestbury to get married. This is possibly because Mary was an unmarried mother and they may not have been able to get married in their own parish.

Mary was born in Dove Head about 1814, daughter of Thomas and Esther. Just before the marriage, in the 1851 census, she was living in Round Knowl, which is visible if you zoom into the Bing OS map of Dove Head.

She then went to live in Coatestown with Elisha and continued to live there, with her son Thomas Wardle, after Elisha's death.

I'm right in the middle of this research so can keep you posted as I go along if you like.

Again, as there is no year on your message, I am not sure whether it is really old or not, or maybe it is from the December just gone.

Best wishes

Kelsie
