Hello there. As a teenager I attended the Frank Wheldon school in Nottingham and during year 8 I visited the old school house as part of a school trip. We stayed there and we heard the rumours that it was haunted by a woman nicknamed "Mad Molly" who had supposedly hung herself in the attic I remember that one night in the school house one of my mates saw a woman outside the window staring in and he swore it was a ghost. Now I am fully grown up I have developed an interest in all things ghostly so I was wondering if there are any truths to the ghost of "Mad Molly" or whether any other ghosts haunt the building?
Hello I'm really sorry to disappoint you but no one I have spoken to knows anything about a Ghost of Mad Molly. Sounds like a good story! There is supposed to be the ghost of a headless rider at Dun Brook just outside the Hollinsclough Parish boundary. Also, several people have claimed to see the ghost of an old man at Home Farm in the centre of the village: the current owner has never seen him. Someone did have an aptly named cow called Mad Molly a few years ago but that is as close as I can get. Sorry! Victoria
Yep!...i was told the story of mad molly when we were staying at Hollinsclough..id be about 13.
The story i remembered was that she was killed outside hollingsclough as it was a curch where she married her sweetheart in tge early 1800s..as they left the church,a runaway cart ploughed molly down and killed her...
